Intention of Leaflet

I know the leaflet i produce will not be able to be displayed in GPs. With this in mind, i want to make a leaflet that has information i believe to be valuable to those who do not know what endometriosis is or those first hearing about it.

The aim of the leaflet is to show some information gathered from the NHS website and Endometriosis charity Endometriosis UKs website to build the base of the technical and informative side.

I want the other part to be more about personal advice. Seeking out other people who have experience with it and begin a conversation about the disease. A lot of my experiences come from what i have read others talk about and advice on treatments that have or havent worked.

Therefore, my leaflet will be in two parts so to speak. The first, information about symptoms and treatments. The other, a social guide on where to seek support and advice when things arent as they seem.

Whilst looking for a leaflet about endometriosis, i found one that is given to patient before having surgery to diagnose and remove endometriosis. Speaking from personal experience, my own research and my own time spent speaking with various doctors and nurses over 9 years. I have broken the leaflet down to make comments on each section. From the outset, the leaflet mentions that it is a laparoscopy which is minimally invasive keyhole surgery. One key part of the surgery is that carbon dioxide is used to inflate the abdomen allowing the surgeon more movement and vision within the abdomen. This i will come back to later. Here the leaflet described what endometriosis is. If youre having surgery to diagnose and remove endometrial tissue, this should be very clear already. Animations that Address Issues

I first tried to look for something simalar to what i am planning to do. The only videos i could find were very clinical. They showed a lot of detail about endometriosis and theres no soft approach to it. I instead tried to look for other instances where it was difficult to talk about the subject but an animation was created to help shed light on the issue. Recently, campaigns to raise awareness of mental health issues has been on the rise. We All Have Mental Health 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxIDKZHW3-E&t=33s   The animation tells a story of a school girl feeling stressed and how she approaches her mother about it. It then goes on to talk about a boy who had great difficulty overcoming his feelings and had problems talking to people about it. Leaflet so far

This is the current standing of the front page. The colours should help the leaflet stand out. I also included the word endometriosis at the top if the leaflet is stacked in a way that the title is covered. This is the middle of the leaflet. I am yet to add any illustrations but wanted to make sure i got the layout of the information correct and that i had sufficient space to fit it. The back page i have reserved for links to more information and a still image of the animation with a link to that.
