Existing Charities and Organisations

When looking at websites and pages dedicated to Endometriosis, there are only a few organisations for it but many groups and pages on facebook. This community of people come together to provide helpful advice and promote any fundraisers or petitions to help the cause.

 This helps to give me an idea of the support and awareness out there. Hopefully my animation would help deliver awareness on a new platform and give some more information onto who is at risk of having it. Along with this, although the animation may be about pain and suffering, i do not want it to be dark. I would like the ultimate message to be that of hope so maybe having some pallete between light and dark would be beneficial.

Whilst looking for a leaflet about endometriosis, i found one that is given to patient before having surgery to diagnose and remove endometriosis. Speaking from personal experience, my own research and my own time spent speaking with various doctors and nurses over 9 years. I have broken the leaflet down to make comments on each section. From the outset, the leaflet mentions that it is a laparoscopy which is minimally invasive keyhole surgery. One key part of the surgery is that carbon dioxide is used to inflate the abdomen allowing the surgeon more movement and vision within the abdomen. This i will come back to later. Here the leaflet described what endometriosis is. If youre having surgery to diagnose and remove endometrial tissue, this should be very clear already. Animations that Address Issues

I first tried to look for something simalar to what i am planning to do. The only videos i could find were very clinical. They showed a lot of detail about endometriosis and theres no soft approach to it. I instead tried to look for other instances where it was difficult to talk about the subject but an animation was created to help shed light on the issue. Recently, campaigns to raise awareness of mental health issues has been on the rise. We All Have Mental Health 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxIDKZHW3-E&t=33s   The animation tells a story of a school girl feeling stressed and how she approaches her mother about it. It then goes on to talk about a boy who had great difficulty overcoming his feelings and had problems talking to people about it. The animation itself is quite simple in style and often uses visual symbolism to illustrate what is being narrated. It is about 5 minutes long and tells both stories in an effective amount of time. Leaflet so far

This is the current standing of the front page. The colours should help the leaflet stand out. I also included the word endometriosis at the top if the leaflet is stacked in a way that the title is covered. This is the middle of the leaflet. I am yet to add any illustrations but wanted to make sure i got the layout of the information correct and that i had sufficient space to fit it. The back page i have reserved for links to more information and a still image of the animation with a link to that.
